On April 13 at 16:00, pianist Nikolai Medvedev will present an exceptional recital at Konzerthaus Berlin, showcasing a program that bridges the elegance of the Classical era and the emotional depth of the Romantic period.

The concert opens with Joseph Haydn’s «Andante con variazioni» in F minor, a work that reveals the composer’s refined sense of form and expressive nuance, considered one of his most profound piano compositions.

Next, Robert Schumann’s «Carnaval», Op. 9 invites the audience into a vivid world of musical characters, inspired by the spirit of masquerade balls—a kaleidoscope of emotions, wit, and lyrical beauty.

After intermission, Medvedev performs Felix Mendelssohn’s «Fantasie» in F-sharp minor, Op. 28, also known as the «Scottish Sonata.» This piece reflects Mendelssohn’s fascination with the landscapes and folklore of Scotland, blending dramatic intensity with lyrical charm.

The program concludes with two works by Franz Liszt: the poetic «Sonetto 123 del Petrarca» from «Années de pèlerinage» and the dazzling «Réminiscences du Don Juan de Mozart», a virtuosic homage to Mozart’s iconic opera.

Through this thoughtfully curated program, Medvedev’s artistry will bring new life to these timeless compositions, offering a captivating exploration of musical expression across centuries.
